Alise Hoogendoorn

Registered Kinesiologist- B. Kin

Alise received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of the Fraser Valley and joins Renewed Wellness with 10 years of experience as a Registered Kinesiologist.

Her background is in both the community and clinical setting; and includes working with those recovering from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, chronic pain, as well as occupational health.

Alise is passionate about client-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration as she believes that the recovery process can be an opportunity to not just treat a problem area - but to improve one's overall health and physical wellbeing.

Angela Mackenzie

RMT

Angela graduated in 1995 from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver, B.C. Previous to being an RMT, Angela was a dental assistant. After a personal experience with jaw pain she completed studies to treat jaw pain. Angela's previous work experience includes collaboration with Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, Oral Pain Specialists and a variety of allied health professionals.

Christelle Stoesz

Physiotherapist- MSc

Christelle obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance from the University of Calgary in 2010 and went on to complete her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy in 2012. She is excited to be able to integrate her knowledge and experiences as an athlete into her treatment style as a physiotherapist.

After a gentle, detailed assessment, her physiotherapy programs are tailored to meet the individual goals of each patient. They will include forms of myofascial release, joint mobilization, therapeutic stretching, dry needling/IMS, modalities, and education, as well as exercise-based therapy and rehabilitation. Achieving pain-free range of motion and mobility allows patients to gain the ability to restrengthen their bodies in order to prevent future injuries and is essential in returning to normal day-to-day function.

Outside of her life as a physiotherapist, Christelle enjoys sharing her passion for dance with children and teens of all ages as a contemporary, ballet, and jazz dance teacher. She has begun to develop her skills as a choreographer as well. Christelle also has a love of long-distance running and has participated in numerous marathons and trail races over recent years. When not running, she is an avid mountain scrambler either solo or with friends, and enjoys exploring the outdoors.

Hannah Whelpton

RMT- BSc

Hannah is a graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. She is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of BC and the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of BC.

Hannah’s passion for health and wellbeing began during studies at Simon Fraser University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science. She has experience treating a wide range of conditions using a variety of techniques including Swedish massage, Joint Mobilization, Myofascial and Trigger Point Release.

Helen Edwards

M.Ed., RCC

Helen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 17 years of clinical experience in the field of therapeutic interventions. She received her Master's in Counselling and Education from Western Washington University, and her Bachelor's in Psychology and English Literature from the University of California - Irvine. Her areas of clinical expertise include psychosis recovery, anxiety and depression, PTSD healing, suicide intervention, trauma-informed practice, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused interventions. She is well-versed and passionate in providing therapeutic services to children, youth, families, groups, women, BIPOC, and individuals recovering from abuse, trauma, and violence. Her lens of focus is centralized around strengths-based social justice and equitable inclusivity.

Helen has had extensive experience working in multiple settings, including hospitals and healthcare, community non-profit, and public schools. She enjoys working alongside clients to re-discover their voice, strengths, and resilience.

Klaus Figueiredo

Registered Kinesiologist, B. Kin

Klaus completed his Kinesiology degree at the University of the Fraser Valley, where he was also a varsity men’s basketball team athlete.

As a former athlete who has experienced injuries, Klaus understands the importance of physical rehabilitation. His interest in physical rehabilitation and pre-habilitation stems from his own experiences.

Klaus’s experience working with a variety of active rehab programs has equipped him with applicable concepts that may also be implemented outside of these programs.

Klaus believes that exercise not only has a powerful impact on recovery and maintaining physical health but that it also promotes cognitive capabilities. Klaus works together with his patients and colleagues in order to create an individualized active rehabilitation program.

Laura Wegener

RMT- BKin

Laura graduated from the Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2017. Prior to graduating, Laura completed her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2015 where her passion for anatomy, physiology, and the utilization of hands-on skills to improve people’s well-being blossomed. Keeping her patient's treatment goals as a main priority throughout the treatment, Laura is able to apply a great range of modalities to achieve the goals as safely and effectively as possible.

Marique Crossen

Counsellor - MSW, RSW

Marique is a Registered Social Worker (#14847) with the BC College of Social Workers. After graduating in 2006 with her Bachelors in Social Work from Calvin College in Michigan she went on to pursue her Masters which she completed in 2007 from Dalhousie University. In 2010 Marique received her Narrative Therapy Certification from the Hincks Dellcrest Institute in Toronto.

Marique is a compassionate counsellor with experience providing counselling support to children, youth, adults, families and couples. Marique has counselling experience in a variety of settings including children and youth mental health centres, high schools, as well as online adult mental health counselling. Marique has experience providing counselling support to people faced with a number of difficulties in their lives including grief and loss, trauma, eating disorders, family conflict, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, etc.

Marique considers it a privilege to walk alongside people seeking change in their lives. She believes building relationships of trust is crucial to the counselling process and so spends time getting to know her clients as whole people beyond the challenges bringing them to counselling. She has an anti-oppressive and strengths-based approach and utilizes a variety of evidence-based counselling modalities, narrative therapy being her primary counselling framework.

Marique relocated to Agassiz from Ontario in 2019 and is excited to give to the community she has grown to love. Outside of work she spends her time with her 4 young children and discovering the beauty of the area.

Stephan Hoogendijk

M.Ed, MACP, RCC

Stephan received his Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Yorkville University. Besides being a therapist, he has more than twenty years of experience as a high-school teacher, both in the Netherlands and in Canada.

He enjoys working with couples and individuals that seek support to deal with the challenges that life can bring, including anger management and emotional regulation.

Tatiana Meneses Machado

RMT

Tatiana has recently graduated from VCMT (Vancouver College of Massage Therapy). Prior to RMT school, she was working as a bodyworker/spa therapist in clinics and resort spas in the lower mainland. Tatiana has more than 4,000 hours of training in massage techniques, and 6 years of massage experience, holds a degree in Journalism and a post-degree in communications.

During a massage therapy session with Tatiana, she will pay close attention to where your body is holding tension and adapt techniques that will benefit your healing. She is a firm believer in a holistic/therapeutic approach to healing - the human body is made up of the mind, body, and spirit. All three must be in working order so that a free flow of energy and relaxation is achieved.

Trevor Unruh

RMT

Trevor is a graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster.

He believes that every patient arrives with unique pain, injury and health goals and that each case requires a personalized thoughtful approach.

Trevor is dedicated to finding a treatment plan tailored to the individual needs of his patients that promotes healing and lasting relief.

Vanessa Brown

Dietitian- RD

Vanessa is a Registered Dietitian (#1298) with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia. She has a background in Nutrition and Kinesiology, holding Bachelor degrees in both. With a passion for people, nutrition and exercise, Vanessa works to create small, manageable changes that results in a healthier, longer-lasting lifestyle for her clients. Vanessa holds a high level of professionalism and strives in a collaborative approach. With experience in various Dietetics fields, including sports, clinical, eating disorders, diabetes and weight management she brings a wealth of experience to the table. Using motivational interviewing techniques, a personalize approach and providing evidenced-based information, clients continue to return with satisfaction.
