Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an individualized treatment approach that can support pain management, physical recovery, nervous system regulation, and overall well-being. At Renewed Wellness, each acupuncture session is tailored to your symptoms, health concerns, physical presentation, and treatment goals.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points in the body with very fine, sterile needles. This stimulation interacts with the nervous system, muscles, connective tissues, and local circulation.

When an acupuncture needle is inserted, it creates a small, controlled stimulus that sends signals through the nervous system. This can influence how the brain and body process pain, regulate muscle tension, and respond to stress. Acupuncture may also encourage local blood flow and support the body’s natural pain-relieving and recovery processes.

In simple terms, acupuncture provides the body with a gentle stimulus that can help calm an overactive pain response, relax tense tissues, and support the body’s natural ability to recover.

Your practitioner selects acupuncture points and techniques based on your individual assessment, health history, symptoms, and treatment goals.

What Can Acupuncture Help With?

Acupuncture may be incorporated into treatment plans for a variety of concerns, including:

  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Muscle tension, tightness, and trigger points
  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Sports injuries and physical rehabilitation
  • Tendon and soft-tissue concerns
  • Arthritis-related pain and discomfort
  • Nerve-related pain and discomfort
  • Stress, tension, and difficulty relaxing
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Digestive concerns
  • Menstrual and hormonal concerns
  • General fatigue and low energy
  • Support during recovery from injury or physical strain

More Than Just Needles

Acupuncture treatment can involve more than acupuncture needling. Depending on your needs and treatment goals, your practitioner may combine different modalities within the same session.

Acupuncture Needling

Fine, sterile needles are inserted into specific points on the body to provide targeted stimulation. It may help with pain, muscle tension, and support the body’s natural recovery processes.

Electro-Acupuncture

A gentle electrical current is applied through selected acupuncture needles to provide additional stimulation. It may be used for pain management, muscle tension, and rehabilitation.

Cupping Therapy

Cups are placed on the skin to create gentle suction. Cupping may help increase local circulation, reduce muscle tightness, and support recovery from physical strain.

Gua Sha / Scraping

A smooth therapeutic tool is used over the skin with controlled strokes. Gua Sha may help address muscle tension, stiffness, and areas of discomfort while promoting local circulation.

Lifestyle & Health Guidance

Treatment may also include individualized recommendations related to movement, exercise, sleep, stress management, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors that may support your recovery and overall health.

Your Treatment, Your Needs

No two people are exactly alike, and your treatment plan doesn’t have to be either. Your practitioner may use acupuncture alone or combine several modalities based on your individual needs.

Our goal is to provide personalized, evidence-informed care that supports pain management, recovery, relaxation, and overall wellness—while helping you take an active role in your health.
